Terms of Service
These terms explain the rules that apply when you use the Sober Today website, mobile application, content and related services.
Last updated: 17 July 2026
Agreement to these Terms
Sober Today is provided by iByte Apps Limited (“iByte Apps”, “we”, “us” or “our”). These Terms of Service govern your use of the Sober Today website at sobertoday.app, the Sober Today mobile application, and the content and services made available through them (together, the “Services”).
By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services. You should also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live, to create an account or purchase a subscription. By using the Services, you confirm that you are legally capable of entering into this agreement and are not prohibited from using the Services under applicable law.
Accounts and your information
Some features may allow or require you to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, complete and current information and to keep it updated. You are responsible for protecting your login details and for activity carried out through your account.
Please notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission. We may suspend or close an account where information is materially inaccurate, the account is being misused, or these Terms have been breached.
Recovery support and medical disclaimer
Sober Today provides tracking tools, recovery readings, reflections and other self-help resources. The Services are intended to support personal recovery; they are not medical care and are not designed to diagnose, prevent, monitor or treat any disease, addiction, mental-health condition or other medical condition.
The Services are not a substitute for advice, diagnosis or treatment from a qualified healthcare professional. You are responsible for deciding whether the Services are appropriate for you. Never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read in the Services.
If you are in immediate danger, experiencing a medical emergency, or believe you may harm yourself or another person, contact the emergency services or an appropriate crisis service immediately.
Using the Services
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to access and use the Services for lawful, personal and non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.
You remain solely responsible for the decisions you make and the information you record, share or rely upon while using the Services.
Purchases and subscriptions
Some features may be offered through a paid subscription or one-off purchase. The price, billing period and included features will be displayed before you confirm a transaction. Purchases made through Apple App Store, Google Play or another distribution platform (an “App Provider”) are also subject to that provider’s payment terms.
By completing a purchase, you confirm that you are authorised to use the selected payment method and agree to pay the displayed price and applicable taxes. Unless we state otherwise, payments are processed by the relevant App Provider rather than directly by iByte Apps.
Automatic renewal and cancellation
A recurring subscription renews automatically for the same subscription period unless you cancel it before the renewal date. The relevant App Provider may charge your chosen payment method at each renewal.
You can manage or cancel a mobile subscription through the account settings of the App Provider through which it was purchased. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. After cancellation, paid access normally continues until the end of the period already paid for.
Refunds and consumer rights
Refund requests for purchases processed by an App Provider must usually be made directly to that provider and are governed by its refund procedures. Where we process a payment directly, contact us with the relevant transaction details.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts any refund, cancellation, quality or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.
Changes to prices and features
We may change subscription prices or included features. Where required, notice will be provided before a pricing change takes effect. A new price will not apply retrospectively and will normally apply from your next renewal. If you do not accept a proposed renewal price, you may cancel before renewal.
Purchases are not contingent upon the delivery of any future feature, functionality or public roadmap statement.
Content and intellectual property
The Services, software, design, graphics, audio, video, text and other materials supplied by iByte Apps are owned by or licensed to iByte Apps and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited permission granted by these Terms, no rights are transferred to you.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, reverse engineer, decompile or make the Services available to another person except where applicable law expressly permits it.
Certain historical recovery texts may be in the public domain. Their inclusion does not imply sponsorship by or affiliation with Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Alcoholics Anonymous, or any other recovery fellowship. Sober Today is independently produced by iByte Apps Limited.
Your content
You retain ownership of notes, entries and other content you create through the Services (“User Content”). You are responsible for your User Content and must have the rights needed to create, store or share it.
To the limited extent necessary to operate features that store, synchronise, back up or display User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce and process that content. This permission ends when the content is deleted from our systems, subject to reasonable backup and legal-retention periods.
App Provider terms
If you download the app through an App Provider, these Terms are between you and iByte Apps, not the App Provider. iByte Apps is responsible for the app and its content, subject to these Terms and applicable law.
- You must comply with the App Provider’s applicable usage and payment rules.
- The App Provider has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Sober Today.
- The App Provider may be a third-party beneficiary of the provisions that relate to your licence to use the app.
- Claims concerning the app, including product, regulatory or intellectual-property claims, remain subject to applicable law and the respective responsibilities of iByte Apps and the App Provider.
Prohibited conduct
You agree not to misuse the Services or help another person to do so. In particular, you must not:
- use the Services unlawfully, fraudulently, commercially without permission, or in a manner that infringes another person’s rights;
- upload malicious code, interfere with the Services, evade security controls, or probe or test systems without authorisation;
- scrape, crawl or extract content through automated means except where we have expressly permitted it;
- impersonate another person, misrepresent an affiliation, or collect another user’s personal information without permission;
- copy, frame, mirror or reproduce the Services, branding or interface without written consent;
- post or transmit material that is unlawful, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, obscene or otherwise harmful; or
- attempt to reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble software used to provide the Services, except where the law does not allow that restriction.
Third-party services and links
The Services may link to third-party websites, resources or services. Links are provided for convenience and do not amount to an endorsement. We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their availability, content, security or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies.
Availability and changes to the Services
We aim to provide reliable Services but do not guarantee that every feature will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free. We may update, suspend, replace or discontinue a feature where reasonably necessary, including for maintenance, security, legal or commercial reasons.
We may also update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated through the Services or by another reasonable method. Continued use after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of those revisions.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. Where account deletion is available, you may request it through the app or by contacting us. You must separately cancel any active subscription through the relevant App Provider.
We may restrict, suspend or terminate access where you materially or repeatedly breach these Terms, create a security or legal risk, or misuse the Services. Provisions intended by their nature to continue—including ownership, disclaimers, liability and governing-law provisions—survive termination.
Disclaimers
The Services are provided on an “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not promise that the Services will meet every requirement or that all content will always be complete, current or error-free.
Nothing in these Terms limits obligations or rights that cannot lawfully be limited, including rights arising under applicable consumer-protection law.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Subject to that qualification, iByte Apps will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill or data arising from use of the Services where such loss was not reasonably foreseeable.
Where the Services are supplied for personal use, we are not responsible for business losses. Our total liability arising from the Services will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the Services during the 12 months preceding the claim or £40, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Responsibility for claims
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for losses reasonably incurred by iByte Apps as a direct result of your unlawful misuse of the Services, infringement of another person’s rights, or material breach of these Terms. This provision does not apply to the extent a loss was caused by iByte Apps or would make you responsible beyond what applicable consumer law permits.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you may also benefit from mandatory protections provided by the law of your country of residence.
Please contact us first so that we can try to resolve a concern informally. If a dispute cannot be resolved, the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, without depriving a consumer of any mandatory right to bring proceedings in another competent court.
General terms
These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the agreement between you and iByte Apps concerning the Services. If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect and the affected provision will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent.
You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer our rights and obligations where this does not reduce your legal protections. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive that right.
